Class 6A Illinois State Champions

The Normal Marching Band earned its second consecutive Class 6A Illinois State Championship, with additional awards for outstanding visual performance and effect.  The band placed fifth overall after advancing to the finals round, with bands from all classes.

ISMBC Hall of Fame

The NMB is humbled to celebrate Mr. George York, who was inducted into the Illinois State Marching Band Championships Hall of Fame Class of 2023.  Mr. York was the longtime director of bands at NCHS and the Unit 5 district music supervisor.  His work impacting the youth in our community continues to this day, as he remains a consequential part of the NMB instructional staff.  Mr. York celebrated his 51st Illinois State Marching Band Championships on Saturday.  Congratulations to Mr. York on this well-deserved recognition, and we thank him for his contributions to our community!
